A Little About Multiple Sclerosis

Multiple sclerosis is also known as “MS.” Did you know that 400,000 people in the United States have been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS), and more than 2 million people are affected by MS worldwide? MS is an affliction that occurs when the body’s immune system targets the nervous system and damages key nerves that control communication between the body and the brain. This disease is capable of taking away mobility and common everyday functions that most people take for granted. MS is not a curable condition, but it can be managed. According to an economic study conducted by Jacquelyn L Bainbridge, the average yearly medical bill costs for an MS patient is $34,000. Avonex, an injectable medication for MS, costs $1,211 per syringe for an uninsured MS patient, averaging at about $62,972 annually with the hopes of preventing a relapse for the incurable disease. This figure does not include any other pills or medications that patients may need while undergoing treatment. For patients who are often unable to be employed, with lifetime medical costs upwards of 2.2 million dollars, any contribution to these families is a blessing. Symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis are unpredictable. MS symptoms can vary in the type you may have and the severity from one person to another. Symptoms may go into remission, or MS may persist and may worsen over time. Symptoms can range from mild to more severe.

Some symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis:

  • fatigue
  • difficulty walking, wheelchair
  • dizziness, vertigo
  • bladder issues
  • feeling stiff
  • involuntary muscle spasms
  • muscle weakness
  • burning sensation in extremities
  • tingling and numbness in extremities (arms, legs, & feet)
  • vision problems
  • pain
  • depression
Multiple Sclerosis can interfere with life’s daily activities. Yearly Angels wants to help with some of the daily duties people with MS may not be able to do because of the symptoms their dealing with. The Blessing they can receive can be FROM $1 to $1,000. That amount will help to buy groceries, clean their home, buy their medicine, take them to their medical appointments, pay their rent or mortgage, and the list goes on to what can be bought to help people in need.

A Little About Poverty In The USA

15 percent of the people living in the United States live in poverty; that means that 47.5 million Americans are surviving at or below the poverty line each day. In today’s society, the average family will need over $241,080 PER CHILD to raise him or her from birth until the age of 18 years old. This estimation does not include the cost of undergraduate education. A college education is estimated to cost at 36,000 to $123,000 in the first four years. With the average family having 2.6 children, it costs well over 1,000,000 dollars to raise a family in the US. A study from the Associated Press reports that the average US household has $127,100 worth of debt year-to-year. Debt related stress is apt to cause insomnia, heart attacks, strokes, depression, and crippling anxiety. Long-term, these afflictions will cost even more money to maintain and medicate for household breadwinners to continue to provide for their households. Yearly Angels wants to help ease the level of stress. We want to help put a smile on these men, women, and children’s faces. The Blessing will be allocated towards each person or family to pay bills, medical expenses, food, clothes, or whatever their need maybe will help with their silent cry for help.

Knowledge is Power, but Monetary Donations are Powerful

The Founder, Stacey Bronner, understands this very well and has decided to help individuals with Multiple Sclerosis and also to help individuals who don’t have MS but have also fallen on hard times and need some financial assistance. Over 29 years of being affiliated with the Multiple Sclerosis Center of Atlanta through her neurologist, Stacey has grown to understand not only the medical toll that MS takes but the personal impact that it has on those that she has met over the years. Stacey is a Board member of The Multiple Sclerosis Center of Atlanta(now called The Atlanta Neuroscience Foundation). Yearly Angels, Inc., a nonprofit organization founded in August 2014. This is Yearly Angels 10th year helping individuals in need. The mission of Yearly Angels is to help individuals who have been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and Yearly Angels help families that have been impacted by economic hardships who don’t have Multiple Sclerosis. We Bless two types of families, one who has MS and families who have a financial need. We Bless each individual or family any amount up to one thousand dollars to help, respectively, with medical bills, household expenses, and a gift or two for their kids and family members during the holiday season. Some people work hard and still fall on hard times and need a little help. Please, help Yearly Angels put a smile on individuals’ faces during the Christmas season.
