Multiple sclerosis is also known as “MS.” Did you know that 400,000 people in the United States have been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS), and more than 2 million people are affected by MS worldwide? MS is an affliction when the body’s immune system targets the nervous system and damages vital nerves that control communication between the body and the brain. This disease is capable of taking away mobility and common everyday functions that most people take for granted. MS is not a curable condition, but it can sometimes be managed. According to an economic study by Jacquelyn L Bainbridge, the average yearly medical bill for an MS patient is $34,000. Avonex, an injectable medication for MS, costs $1,211 per syringe for an uninsured MS patient, averaging at about $62,972 annually, with the hopes of preventing a relapse for the incurable disease. This figure does not include any other pills or medications that patients may need while undergoing treatment. Any contribution to these families is a blessing for patients who are often unable to be employed, with lifetime medical costs upwards of 2.2 million dollars.
Symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis are unpredictable. MS symptoms can vary in the type you may have and the severity from one person to another. Symptoms may go into remission, or MS may persist and worsen over time. Symptoms can range from mild to more severe.
Multiple Sclerosis can interfere with life’s daily activities. Yearly Angels want to help with some of the daily duties people with MS may not be able to do because of the symptoms they are dealing with. The Blessing they can receive can be from $1 to $1,000. That amount will help to buy groceries, clean their home, buy their medicine, take them to their medical appointments, help pay their rent or mortgage, and the list goes on to what can be bought to help people in need.
Fifteen percent of the people living in the United States live in poverty; that means that 47.5 million Americans are surviving at or below the poverty line each day. In today’s society, the average family will need over $241,080 PER CHILD to raise him or her from birth until the age of 18 years old. This estimation does not include the cost of undergraduate education. A college education is estimated to cost $36,000 to $123,000 in the first four years. With the average family having 2.6 children, raising a family in the US costs well over 1,000,000 dollars.
A study from the Associated Press reports that the average US household has $127,100 worth of debt year-to-year. Debt-related stress is apt to cause insomnia, heart attacks, strokes, depression, and crippling anxiety. In the long term, these afflictions will cost even more money to maintain and medicate for household breadwinners to continue to provide for their households. Yearly Angels want to help ease the level of stress. We want to help put a smile on these men, women, and children’s faces. The Blessing will be allocated towards each person or family to pay bills, medical expenses, food, clothes, or whatever their need may be to help with their silent cry for help.
The Founder, Stacey Bronner, understands this very well and has decided to help individuals with Multiple Sclerosis and also to help individuals who don’t have MS but have fallen on hard times and need some financial assistance. Over 30 years of being affiliated with the Multiple Sclerosis Center of Atlanta through her neurologist, Stacey has grown to understand not only the medical toll that MS takes but the personal impact that it has on those that she has met over the years. Stacey is a Board member of The Multiple Sclerosis Center of Atlanta(now called Atlanta Neuroscience Institute).
Yearly Angels, Inc. is a nonprofit organization founded in August 2014. The mission of Yearly Angels is to help two groups of people. Individuals who have been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and Yearly Angels help families that have been impacted by economic hardships who don’t have Multiple Sclerosis but still need help. We bless families who have MS and families who have financial needs. We bless each individual or family in any amount up to one thousand dollars to help, respectively, with medical bills, transportation, household expenses, and a gift or two for their kids and family members during the holiday season. Some people work hard, still fall on hard times, and need a little help. Please help Yearly Angels put a smile on individuals’ faces during the Christmas season.
Donate or be a volunteer…Your time and willingness to give back are invaluable.
Yearly Angels are accepting donations to be given to families or individuals in December of each year. During the holiday season, Yearly Angels will help people in need. We are an organization committed to aiding those who demonstrate considerable need, and we take a vested interest in turning all donations into tangible ways to help those chosen. Donations of all sizes are welcomed, no matter the size of the gift. Over time, Yearly Angels hopes to expand the number of families it can help, but we need your help today to make that happen for up to ten families or individuals. After you see your contribution’s impact, Yearly Angels hope to gain your continued support to impact families in December during the holiday season.
Can we count on you to help? Nothing is too small.
Yearly Angels volunteers help meet the needs of the people or families we are helping. A volunteer may help in the office, go to the grocery store, help someone prepare a meal, help tutor a child, go pay the family water bill, pay the phone bill, pay their rent, pay their car note, take them to and from their doctors’ appointment or go pick their medicine up from the pharmacy, etc. All of these things would help simplify a family’s life. Get involved with Yearly Angels. If you are interested in volunteering, please fill out the contact page indicating that you would like to be a volunteer.
